Chronicle is the easy way to manage your bills on Mac OS X.

How to Enable E-Mail Reminders

Step 1. Purchase E-mail Reminders E-mail reminders are available as an in-app purchase on the App Store version of Chronicle and Chronicle Mini (Lion required) only. To purchase e-mail reminders, click the Chronicle menu and choose Preferences. Then, choose the Reminders tab. Click the button labeled Buy Now, and follow the prompts to purchase e-mail reminders.

Step 2. Enable E-mail Reminders After completing your purchase, the preference panel will update with some new options. Make sure the Enable e-mail reminders box is checked. Then, enter your e-mail address in the Your E-Mail Address box. Finally, click the Send Test Message button, and verify that you receive a test message. Be sure to add reminders@chronicleapp.com to your address book to make sure your messages are delivered.

Step 3. Edit Current Bills to Enable Reminders and Relaunch Chronicle After receiving your test message, edit each of your bills, make sure the Remind Me box is checked, and re-save them. Then, quit and relaunch Chronicle. This process will update your current bills to activate e-mail reminders, and trigger Chronicle to notify the server of pending messages.

Troubleshooting

If you are not receiving e-mail reminders, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Check Your E-Mail Address Click the Chronicle menu and choose Preferences. Then, choose the Reminders tab. Double check that the Enable e-mail reminders box is checked, and double-check that your e-mail address is correct. If your address is correct, click the Send Test Message button. If your test message arrives, proceed to the next step. If not, contact support@littlefin.com.

Connect to the Internet and Create a Test Bill Make sure you are connected to the internet, and create a new bill named Test Bill with a due date set to Today. Make sure the Remind Me box is checked. Save the new bill, and then quit and relaunch Chronicle. This process will force the e-mail reminder for the new bill to be sent immediately. If it arrives, then e-mail reminders are working. Make sure you periodically launch Chronicle while connected to the internet so that it can notify the server of upcoming messages to be sent.

Quit and Relaunch Chronicle While Connected to the Internet Each time you launch Chronicle, it checks to see if there are any pending reminders due in the next few weeks. If so, it sends those reminders to the server, to be e-mailed to you at the appropriate time. Launching Chronicle (while connected to the internet) will insure that reminders are scheduled.

FAQ: E-Mail Reminders

How can I get e-mail reminders?

E-mail reminders are available as an in App Purchase, on the Mac App Store version of Chronicle and Chronicle Mini (Lion only). If you have purchased on our website, and would like to transition to the Mac App Store version, please contact us.

Do Chronicle need to be running constantly for e-mail reminders to be sent?

No. Chronicle will automatically send any pending messages to our server every time you launch it, and periodically while it is running. As long as you launch Chronicle a couple times a month, you will receive your reminders.

Will you share my e-mail address with advertisers?

Never! The e-mail address you enter in Chronicle will only be used to deliver your bill reminders.

Why does this cost extra money?

Sending e-mails requires internet infrastructure that incurs small costs every time we send messages. The small, one-time fee for e-mail reminders ensures you will be able to receive e-mail reminders for many years.
